So recently I was spending some time with the Lord and I happened to open to a few scriptures randomly that really made me think. As I pondered whether God was trying to show me something, I started to believe that it was more than just chance. And wow, I have to admit, I was kind of surprised. Actually, I was kind of blown away by something.
Did you ever notice that Jesus’s lineage came through some strange people? They were straight up misfits. I started to see this phenomena at Jacob’s 1st wife. The not so pretty one, that he didn’t love, and was tricked into marrying. Her 1st son, Judah was the one that the Messiah came through. Not Prince Joseph or Benjamin. That blew me away. I never realized that God didn’t use that lineage to bring His son through.
And then there’s Rahab, the prostitute, and Ruth the Moabitess. I knew about these two, but think about it. These 2 are mentioned by name. Moabites worshiped a terrible god by sacrificing their children to him. But these 2 women turned from their former lives and started new lives of faith. But then there’s Tamar. Um…she was childless and slighted by the men of the family that were supposed to take care of her. So she pretended to be a prostitute to sleep with her Father-in-Law!!!??? Oh man…wow.Wow. Wow. I’ll say it backwards, Wow. What? In the lineage of the Messiah. Now, that’s some crazy…stuff right there. She almost lost her life with that stunt. But Judah admitted she was more righteous than him!!!? Seriously, this blows my mind.
So, I’ve been feeling that God’s been pointing this out to me lately. That, with Him, He doesn’t think like us. He doesn’t work like us. He’s not as “responsible” as us. He doesn’t give out responsible advice like the world. He’s not afraid of babies. He thought them up. He’s not afraid of increase. He says, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth.” You know how He rewards people? Children. He gives them babies. You know how He says you have to enter His Kingdom? Become as little children. He esteems children. And if you’re worried about having babies or having more babies; He’s a Good Shepherd. Isaiah 40:11 “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
I also noticed that God gives poor people more children just because they are poor. Check this out: Psalm 107:41-43 “Yet sets he the poor on high from affliction, and makes their families like a flock. The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop its mouth.Whoever is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.”
Have more babies. I can’t help but say it. It’s on my heart. It stirs in me. I hear so many people talking, and I know they want to have more. But they’re scared, or they think it’s too hard or too much work, or they don’t have enough time. Or, what will people say? I’m telling you right now, God is with you. He will help you. Bring your cares to Him.
What if like Judah and Tamar’s situation- you are alone in your desire to have more babies? Are you dreaming of having more babies, but your spouse is not? I wrote a little on Dreaming of Having More Babies here. But there’ll be more to come on that subject in the future. Subscribe to my newsletter for more updates.
