When Dreams turn into Nightmares…

Sometimes Dreams are like children- they need a little discipline. Ok, maybe they need ALOT of discipline. And just like children, they are totally worth all the late nights, discipline, tears, frustrations, and epic fails they may cause. Don’t give up on your Dreams, or your children.

There are times I’ve found myself putting one of my Dreams into a coffin prematurely because I’m pretty sure it’s not going to make it. Then I dig a deep hole way out in the wilderness and lay my Dream to rest. Or so I think. Then at night I wake up in a cold sweat and can’t sleep knowing it’s out there. And it’s dug it’s self out of it’s grave and it’s coming back for me. Who woke it from death? Now it’s a “Zombie Dream”. It’s a Dream that’s not quite dead, but you don’t want to acknowledge it’s presence because if you did- that will imply something that you’re not ready for – like a whole bunch of work. Or a whole bunch of discipline- or;  BOTH : DISCIPLINE and WORK ! NOOOO!

It’s way easier for that Dream to die. But sometimes…they come back from the dead. Or rather, back from the deep pit you hid them in.

Because God resurrects things, He’s in that business. He takes great joy in Life; Abundant, Zoe-Life. Not Zombie Life.

John 10:10 says

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

So if you have a “Zombie Dream”. Let God turn it into a Zoe Dream. You may find that all that Dream needs is some prayer and for you to sing over it. I like to listen to inspiring sermons that minister to me to allow God to revive the Dreams He placed in my heart.

Maybe your Dreams are from God. Should you bury them all? Or should you nurture them and pray over them? Be careful of Aborting your Dreams. Here is a resource that helped me move forward with my Dream of having a blog.

Building a Framework 3

Sometimes, ok MOST times our Dreams just need more discipline applied to them. But if you’re a bit of a rebel – like me, you need some intentional planning.

Here’s a resource from a super successful blogger I trust named Abby Lawson. I invested in her Building a Framework course. And now I’m going through this free course  so I can work on getting my life organized.

intentionally organized

These resources are really well done, and they just make me feel inspired and uplifted when I go through them. They made me feel like I could really do this, and they gave me actionable steps and pointed me in the right direction.

No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
